A total number of 126 individuals from 19 families have been quarantined after having been found COVID-19 positive at a blood donation camp held in Gampaha, the Gampaha district Medical Officer of Health's (MOH) office  said.

Gampaha Administrative Public Health Inspector Saminda Samaradiwakara told the Daily Mirror that the blood donation camp was organised by the Ragama hospital without obtaining health officials' permission.

"The blood donation camp was held in Morupola area in Indigolla, Gampaha on January 3. The Ragama Hospital did not inform about their blood donation camp to the district MOH office," he said.

However, after the camp, four persons tested positive with COVID-19, Mr. Samaradiwakara said.

"The patients came to the Gampaha hospital with COVID-19 symptoms. After conducting Rapid Antigen Tests, the four had been identified COVID-19 positive," he added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
