Both leaders talked for about 40 minutes and discussed various issues, including terrorism and bilateral relations. They also agreed to continue talks on all levels. PM Dr. Singh told Gilani terrorism is a key issue and it is holding back progress.
Both leaders did not issue any joint press statement, While Pakistani PM Gilani held a separate press conference, India's Foreign Secretary did the press briefing for India.
"We have no interest in destablising Pakistan. A peaceful and prosperous Pakistan is in India's interest", Dr. Singh reportedly told Gilani.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan discussed all issues, including Kashmir and Siachen. India raked up issues such as terrorism, 26/11, Hafiz Saeed and many other stuffs.
Both India and Pakistan acknowledged that the talks were held in a very conducive manner. Neither side expected such positive results from the talks and this is a very good signs the ice is finally broken.
