6.9-magnitude quake strikes off Taiwan

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 struck southeast of Taiwan on Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake, with a depth of 10 km, was centered 269 km (167 miles) east of T'ai-tung county, the USGS said. No information on damages was immediately available. (CNN)
