Assistance of Navy Divers was rendered under the leadership of Lieutenant Commander (CDO) Rasika Dissanayaka to recover a body of a man drowned in a deep well, known as the bottomless well in Nilavarai, Jaffna on Sunday.
The SLN divers had used a high tech remotely operated vehicle fitted with an underwater camera for primary investigation in order to inspect the condition of the bottom and to locate the body.
Two divers who were sent down the well had brought the body to the surface. “This humanitarian endeavor is the first underwater operation of such kind carried out by the SLN divers successfully in a deep well,” the Navy said.
