Sri Lanka Tourism will take its IT technology to greater heights since Sri Lanka Tourism will move its IT infrastructure to Sri Lanka Telecom’s (SLT) Akaza cloud platform and will be the first government institution in the country to move its entire IT backend to the cloud.
The contract awarding ceremony was held at Sri Lanka Tourism head office recently under the patronage of SLT Chairman P.G. Kumarasiri Sirisena and Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Paddy Withana. This event was also graced by SLT Chief Enterprise and Wholesale Officer Kiththi Perera, SLT Director ICT Udana Wickramasinghe, SLT General Manager Government Business M.Z. Saleem and other officials from both organisations.
Cloud computing, also named as o –demand computing, is an Internet-based computing, which currently is the model to deploy that provides shared processing resources and data to computers and other devices on demand and more accessible and easier to manipulate. It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, popular and on demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g. networks, servers, storage, applications and services) which can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort.
