The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in collaboration with Air India organised a trade familiarization tour from India to Sri Lanka for 20 travel agents recently in order to promote Sri Lanka to Indian travellers.
Apart from the familiarization tour, the group met Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs Minister John Amaratunga and also a one-to-one business-to-business (B2B) session with tourism industry holders of Sri Lanka.
At Ramada Hotel Colombo, more than 80 members from SLAITO, THASL and ASMET participated in the B2B session.
“India continuous to be a booming market for Sri Lanka and we will continue our marketing efforts in this market,” said Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman P.M. Withana.
In the six months to June 2016, Indian tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka were 172,841, an 18.8 percent increase over the same period last year.
