Two teams of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials are searching to arrest former MP Ravi Karunanayake and eight others over the Central Bank bond scam, Police Spokesman SP Jaliya Senarathna said today.

Meanwhile, the CID yesterday searched the residence of former minister Karunanayake at Rajamalwatta in Battaramulla following the arrest warrant.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake on Friday issued arrest warrants on Mr. Karunanayake and nine others over the Central Bank bond scam in 2016.

Sources said Mr. Karunanayake was not at his residence when the CID officers arrived yesterday.

The CID yesterday arrested Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) Director Muthuraja Surendran against whom an arrest warrant was issued.

He was remanded until March 18 after being produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate.

These people have the guts to rob our money but have no guts to face the legal system. When the crime is exposed, they hide or get admitted in a hospital or seek prison hospital admission and ultimately get bail. What kind of people are they and what kind of system is this?

They gave no idea where he is? Surprise surprise, that's what you get when you announce that je will be arrested. Smart move.

Arrest Ranil also, he was the minister incharge of CB and he was responsible in appointing Mahendra to CB not Sirisena.

Height of stupidity, that's what the CID is all about. They checked his residence more than once which simply says that he is not there. So why visit the house daily. Try the penthouse which was 'gifted'to him by PTL or better still, raid Ranil's residence.
