The two businessmen who were reported to have gone missing from Boossa in Rathgama have been killed at Akmeemana and their bodies burnt at the Kanumuldeniya-Megdagamgoda Forest Reserve in Walasmulla, the police revealed today.
Bone fragments and teeth suspected to be those of the two businessmen were recovered from the forest reserve and inspected by the Walasmulla Chief Magistrate Suranga Munasinghe.
Based on the information obtained from the suspects, who were arrested in connection with the abduction, the CID officials recovered the teeth and bone fragments from the bed of a dried-up stream inside the reserve.
Chief Magistrate Suranga Munasinghe, Matara Judicial Medical Officer Sumith Ambepitiya, CID and police officials and officials of the Government Analyst's Department were present at the magisterial inquiry.
The two businessmen, 33-year-old Manjula Asela Kumara and 31-year-old Rasin Chinthaka were abducted on January 23 by some unidentified men who were clad in what appeared to be police uniform.
A police Inspector and a sub inspector attached to the Southern Province Special Crime Investigation Unit were arrested in this connection. (Aneesha Manage)

The only difference is it has not been covered up as "accidents" or "drunken act of self immolation" as happened in the case of Wasim Thajudeen. There is an open public enquiry and concerned officers stood aside; which you can only dream before Yahapalanaya.

I find it funny how people talk about law and order in a country where people were burnt alive by both government, insurgents alike in the 1980s,a country where bombs used to go off on a daily basis in the 1990s and people were abducted in the 2000s. Face it this is a country of low lives. And that's the way it will remain.

This is the example of Extra Judicial killing. No matter who ever did that, Culprits should be held imprisonment until Die. Suffring of victimes family is indefinitly long time.

Now we can visualize what happened in the north and east during the war. Now Gamarala has to eat what he has being spitting out in phrase of war heroes. Come on hang the whole lot.

What happened in the North and East is altogether different. It was a war against LTTE terrorists who were supported by Diaspora. In a war deaths are likely. So there is no point trying to say this was a similar incidence

Hats off to CID men who investigated the abduction and found the culprits. Great work. Rogue Cops must know that they cannot escape when they commit crime however much they try to cover up
