An impressive all-round effort by Stephan de Silva helped the British College Colombo record a convincing eight wicket win over Belvoir College International in an inter-international school U-17, 30-over cricket match played at the Health ground on Saturday.
Having bowled out Belvoir College for 81 in the 26th over, the British School were in deep trouble having lost their openers when the score was on three, but  Stephan with a crafty half century (52 not out ) and Liam Shaugy with an unbeaten 24  helped them reach the target in the 13th over. His innings had six towering sixes.
Stephan also picked two wickets for eight runs with his off-spins.
Belvoir College International: 81 all out in 26 overs (Stephan De silva 2  for 8, Liam Shaugy 2  for 10)
British College: 86/2 in 12.3 overs ( Stephan De Silva 52 not out, Liam Shaugy 24 not out)
Easy  for British School
In an another match of the same tournament Stephan de Silva and Binath Hewage combined well to lead the British School to an easy 42 run win over Stafford International College. The match was played at the Health ground.
Having bowled out for 86 runs, the British College needed a disciplined bowling effort to pull off a win and they found their strike bowlers doing the job for them. Stephan returned figures of three for three runs while Binath had three wickets for runs as Stafford International collapsed to 44 all out.
British School: 86 all out in 24 overs ( Nisal Kaluarachchige 20)
Stafford International: 44 all out 15 overs (Stephan De Silva 3 for 3, Binath Hewage 3 for 8)
