Yasitha de Silva sets up final showdown against Sharmal Dissanayake

Defending champion Sharmal Dissanayake, the top seed, and Yasitha de Silva, the bottom seeded player, booked their berths to the final of the Men’s Opens singles final of the 105th National Tennis Championships when they recorded easy wins in the semi-finals played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo on Friday.

Dissanayake got the better of third seeded Sankha Athukorala while de Silva overcame seventh seeded Chathurya Nilaweera with identical winning margins of two sets to nil.

Dissanayake and de Silva will battle it out in the final scheduled to be played tomorrow.

Meanwhile the women’s semi-final encounters will be played today with Anika Seneviratne facing Savini Jayasuriya and Janali Manamperi taking on Hasali Gajaba.

  • Men’s – Sharmal Dissanayake beat Sankha Athukorala 2-0 (7/6 (3), 6/3). Yasitha de Silva beat Chathuriya Nilaweera 2-0 (7/6 (3), 6/3).
