Thehan, Oneli clinch U-18 tennis titles

Top seed Thehan Wijemanne and fifth seed Oneli Perera clinched the Boys’ and Girls’ Singles Under-18 title respectively at the HNB-Hutch Clay Court Tennis Nationals, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo today.

Thehan lived upto expectations as he had the better of third seed Dhilvan Herath with ease 7-6, 6-2. In the Girls’ Under-18 final, fifth seed Oneli pulled off another fine win when she overcame the bottom seed Savini Jayasuriya 3-6, 6-0, 10-8 in a tough encounter.

Meanwhile, in the Girls’ Under-14 Singles, Hasali Gajaba came out victorious against Ruvi Lewkebandara while Dinara de Silva outclassed Onali de Silva in the Girls’ Under-12 Singles final.

  • Boys’ Under-18 Singles: Thehan Wijemanne beat Dhilvan Herath 7-6, 6-2.
  • Girls’ Under-18 Singles: Oneli Perera beat Savini Jayasuriya 3-6, 6-0, 10-8.
  • Girls’ Under-14 Singles: Hasali Gajaba beat Ruvi Lewkebandara 6-2, 6-0.
  • Girls’ Under-12 Singles: Dinara de Silva beat Onali de Silva 6-0, 6-0.
