Singapore trounce SL 10-1

Singapore trounced Sri Lanka 10-1 in their AHF Women’s Junior Hockey Tournament encounter worked off in Singapore today (12).

This was Sri Lanka’s third successive defeat in the tournament after they had earlier lost to Chinese Taipei (0-6) and Bangladesh (0-2) respectively.

The only consolation for Sri Lanka was that they were able to score their first goal in the tournament through the stick of Neranji Atipola in the 57th minute of play.

Singapore took a 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and added two more goals in the second quarter as the home side enjoyed a 3-1 lead at half time.

Singapore really dominated the second half with three goals in the third quarter and a further four goals in the fourth quarter.

Sri Lanka will take on Hong Kong in their next outing on Saturday (14).
