Defending champion Sharmal Dissanayake retained the Men’s Singles title at the 104th National Tennis Championships with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 win over Heera Ashiq in the final played at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo on Sunday.
In fact, this was Sharmal’s fourth successive National Singles title and also the sixth Men’s Singles title for the current year having already emerged champion at the SSC Open, Nuwara Eliya and Batticaloa Open, National Clay court Championships and 104th Colombo Championship.
Meanwhile, the Seneviratne sisters, Anika and Alana proved too good for the pair of Anjalika Kurera and Rukshika Wijesuriya as they came out victorious in the Women’s Doubles final with an easy win.
Results (All finals):
Men’s Singles: Sharmal Dissanayake beat Heera Ashiq 6-3, 6-2).
Women’s Doubles: Anika Seneviratne/Alana Seneviratne beat Anjalika Kurera/Rukshika Wijesuriya 6-0, 7-6 (6).
