Sachithra Senanayake of SSC in action

A fine knock of 124 in 137 balls inclusive of four boundaries and nine towering sixes by Chanaka Ruwansiri was the highlight of the opening day’s play in the Premier Tier ‘A’ Plate Championship encounter between Lankan CC and Negombo CC played at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.
Chanaka’s knock enabled Lankan CC taking first lease of the wicket to make a score of 270 runs and Negombo CC in their turn ended the day on 64 for 3.
Sachithra Senanayake came to the rescue of SSC when they were struggling on 79 for 5 with a 93-ball knock of 81 which included a boundary and five sixes and put on a valuable 75 runs for the seventh wicket with Akash Senaratne which helped them end day one on 242 for 8 against Tamil Union in the match played at the NCC ground.
Moors SC helped by a half ton by Adeesha Thilanchana ended day one on 239 for 7 against Badureliya SC in the match played at the Colts ground. The matches will be continued tomorrow.
