Neyara Weerawansa and Tuvini de Alwis clinched the Women’s Doubles title in the Clay Court Tennis Nationals when they recorded a thrilling 6-3, 5-7, 11-9 win over the fancied pair of Janali Manamperi and Savini Jayasuriya in the final played at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo today.
Neyara and Tuvini, won the first set but lost the second set before making a comeback to take the deciding third and final set and to emerge champions.
Meanwhile, the finals of the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-18 Singles are scheduled to be worked off tomorrow.
Thehan Wijemanne will meet Dhilvan Herath in the Boys’ final while Savini Jayasuriya will confront Oneli Perera in the Girls’ final.
