Nalanda College overcame their traditional rivals Ananda College by 16 runs on the Duckworth and Lewis (DL) scoring method in the 45th Battle of the Maroons limited over cricket match played at the SSC Grounds in Maitland Place yesterday (17).
Meanwhile, Prince of Wales College prevailed with a five-run win on the DL method against the traditional rivals St. Sebastian’s College in the 34th Battle of the Gold limited over encounter played at the De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa yesterday.
At SSC Grounds (Nalanda won by 16 runs on D/L method)
Ananda: 197 in 48 overs (Kalana Wijesiri 46, Nadeesha Karunaratne 43, Daminda Reshan 23, Adeesha Perera 22, Raveen de Silva 4/50, Lakshitha Rasanjana 3/53, Dineth Samaraweera 2/25)
Nalanda: 141/5 in 33.1 overs (Chamindu Wijesinghe 29, Avishka Perera 26, Jayod Caldera 38 n.o, Sudeepa Angulugaha 5/28).
At Moratuwa (Prince of Wales won by five runs on D/L method)
St. Sebastian’s 210/9 in 50 overs (Nuwanindu Fernando 76, Janishka Perera 54, Vinuja Ranpul 3/37, Pasindu Pathum 2/27)
Prince of Wales: 169/6 in 39.2 overs (Suwath Mendis 43, Omesh Mendis 34, Tharindu Amarasinghe 30).
