The boys’ and girls’ Under 18 singles finals of the SSC Open Tennis Championship which was worked off yesterday at the SSC tennis courts in Maitland Place saw Hasal Ahangama and Vishmi Serasinghe coming out victorious and emerge champions.
The pair won their matches with the identical winning margin of two sets to nil with Ahangama overcoming Ransath Peiris and Serasinghe getting the better of Anitra Dharmaratne.
Meanwhile in a rare occurance, in the boys’ Under 18 age group, four brothers will battle for supremacy after the Wijemanne brothers Thehan and Methvan won the second semi-final which was played yesterday. They will now meet the Nilaweera brothers, Chathurya and Vichinthya, in the final slotted to be played tomorrow. The championship will be continued today.
