Gateway College won the U- 20 Western Province ‘A Division’ Basketball Championship beating Royal College, Colombo (31-26) in the final played at the Royal College court.
The Gateway team that remained unbeaten throughout the tournament had stiff competition in almost all the games.

The final round games were quite intense as both the semi-final and the quarter-final went down to the wire. At the semis, Gateway beat Maris Stella (51-50). The quarter final saw Gateway beating S.Thomas (34-31). During the early rounds, Gateway beat Dharmapala Vidyalaya – Pannipitiya (59-45) and D.S.Senanayake College( 46-37).
