Winners and runners-up with their trophies

Two evergreen golfers, Avinesh Kumar and Ranil Peiris stamped their positions once more when they clinched the Captain’s Cup and the President’s Prize titles at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) Annual Tournaments worked off at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Course during the weekend.
Meanwhile, 16-year old schoolboy golf sensation Haroon Aslam from Trinity College, accounted for the A. R. Aitken Cup while Reza Wadood came second in this segment.
Former Trinitian and technically correct golfer, Surain Premathilake and former Test cricketer, Mahela Jayawardene accounted for the runner-up position in the Captain’s Cup and President’s Prize event respectively.
A record number of 101 golfers teed-off in the Captain’s Cup while 68 golfers participated in the President’s Prize. Aslam Mohideen, father of Haroon Aslam ended in the fourth position in both the Captain’s Cup and President’s Prize.
Another top golfer, Tharanga Gunasekera too was in good form to end at number 10 in the Captain’s event and was placed eighth overall in the President’s Prize.
The Closest to PIN in the Captain’s Cup was Avinesh Kumar with the Longest Drive Award going to Haroon Aslam. In the President’s Prize, the closest to PIN was Captain Navin De Silva with the award for the Longest Drive going to Kushal John Pillai.
