Half tons by Ashen de Soysa and Brian Johnpulle and a five-wicket haul by Maheesh Theekshana helped St. Benedict’s College record a comfortable 78-run win over Moratu MV in the match played at Kotahena yesterday to qualify to the pre-quarter stage of the Under 19 limited over tournament.
St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa too booked a berth the in the pre-quarter final stage with a convincing seven-wicket win over Gurukula MV Kelaniya in the match played at Moratuwa.
At Kotahena – St. Benedict’s won by 78 runs
St. Benedict’s 159 in 48.1 overs (Ashen de Soyza 70, Brian Johnpulle 55: Vinura Nipuna 4 for 30, Nadith Mishendra 3 for 8)
Moratu MV 81 in 25.1 overs (Naditha Mishendra 39 n.o.: Maheesh Theekshana 5 for 24, Imesh Fernando 2 for 15)
At Moratuwa – St. Sebastian’s won by seven wickets
