The most awaited SLIM Brand Excellence organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) kicked off with a media, judges’ and participants’ briefing held at The Kingsbury Colombo yesterday.

The theme for this year being ‘Will you be behind the next biggest brand?’, SLIM Brand Excellence recognises both the brands that have thrived for greatness and their custodians for the countless efforts put in towards bringing those brands to life.

The briefing session saw an impressive participation of over 200 marketing professionals who were enlightened on this year’s awards and the entry process.

SLIM President Gamika De Silva, Project Chairman Charitha Jayasingha, Advisor to Organising Committee and Panel of Judges Prof. Uditha Liyanage, Director - Postgraduate Institute of Management and Head of Judges’ Panel Graham Marshall, General Manager - Automotive Coatings of Akzo Nobel Paints Lanka, addressed the gathering, whilst SLIM Vice Presidents Kalana Rathnayake and Danesh R. Jayathilake were also at the head table.

Targeting an unprecedented 150 plus entries, the competition is now open for entries, which will be closed on August 30, 2013.

The line-up of awards includes: Product Brand of the Year, Service Brand of the Year, Innovative Brand of the Year, Turnaround Brand of the Year, Local Brand of the Year, Best New Entrant of the Year, International Brand of the Year, SME Brand of the Year, CSR Brand of the Year, Export Brand of the Year, B2b Brand of the Year, Recognition Award – Regional Brand Recognition Award.

COKE, Etisalat, Singer Plus, DSI, QP Employment have partnered this year’s SLIM Brand Excellence as Platinum Sponsor, Official Telecommunication Partner, Main Sponsor, Corporate Sponsor and Silver Sponsor, respectively, in addition to a host of service sponsors. The official handing over of the sponsorship cheques was also held during the event, following the briefing session.

The grand finale of SLIM Brand Excellence 2013 is scheduled for October 15 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Conference Centre (SLECC), which is billed to be the biggest event to date with an audience of over 900.
