Reinvents Smartphone Photography in Collaboration with Leica

Huawei, the fastest growing smartphone in Sri Lanka, together with its exclusive national distributor SINGER Sri Lanka, launched the premium flagship smartphone, Huawei P9 and P9 Lite at a gala event held at Waters Edge Battaramulla. The launch event was patronized by Shunli Wang – CEO Huawei Sri Lanka and Henry Liu – Country Head Huawei Device Sri Lanka, Asoka Pieris - Group CEO SINGER Sri Lanka PLC and Chandana Samarasinghe - Director Operations - SINGER Sri Lanka PLC.

The Huawei P9 is the first smartphone co-engineered with the global iconic brand, Leica Camera AG. The P9’s dual-lens camera takes smartphone photography to the next level, allowing people to capture both vivid colors and striking black and white images. The wide-aperture photography feature on the P9 allows users to experiment with innovative visual effects to create unique images and content. With a 5.2-inch 1080p display, the P9 is powered by the new Kirin 955 2.5GHz 64-bit ARM-based processor for leading-class mobile performance. The 3,000mAh high-density battery offers P9 users outstanding mobility and battery life.

Speaking at the launch event, Henry Liu – Country Head Huawei Device Sri Lanka said, “Today is an exciting day for the whole of Sri Lanka. The new Huawei P9 flagship device combines groundbreaking innovations and exceptional design, setting a new standard in smartphone photography.”

Adding a new dimension to the brand, Huawei also appointed popular Sri Lankan singing duo Bathiya & Santhush as the official digital brand ambassadors for the Huawei brand for the next year. Showcasing the excellent photo quality and gaining a firsthand experience of the new devices, Sri Lankan photographic talent including Devaka Senevirathne, Natalie Soysa, Jehan Seedin and Siyath Ranathunge showcased the way they see Sri Lanka in a colourful photographic gallery display at the launch. The local talent innovatively captured Colombo Night, Urban faces, Environment, Fashion using the high technology Huawei P9 devices encompass.

Key to the P9’s superlative imaging capabilities is a dual-camera design that fully unleashes the power of Leica’s optical lenses, renowned for precision and attention to detail, and subject to the industry’s most stringent quality screening requirements. The RGB camera on the P9 specializes in capturing color, while the monochrome camera is outstanding at acquiring picture detail. The two rear cameras of the P9 work in tandem to enable users to create images of superior detail, depth and color. The P9 truly excels in low-light conditions, as the dual-camera design guarantees lighter and detail can be captured.

Available in Gold, Silver and Black colours, the Huawei P9 will be introduced at a price of LKR 75,999 and Huawei P9 Lite is priced at LKR 39,999.
