The tipper truck driver who was arrested for running over Police officers in Hakmana, was remanded till July 23 on charges of murder, attempted murder, causing grievous injuries to officers on duty and reckless driving, the Police said.
They said the suspect was produced in the Matara Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Three Police officers who were on duty at a roadblock on the Matara-Hakmana Road were run over by the tipper truck on Monday night.
A 36-year-old Police Constable, a resident of Walasmulla, was killed in the accident.
Two Sergeants were critically injured and were said to be undergoing treatment at the Matara Hospital.
The driver of the tipper truck was arrested at Ranala, Hungama several hours after he fled the scene.
