Three brothels had been raided and 19 women were arrested in the Mount Lavinia Police Division by the Western Province Police Crime Division yesterday, the Police said.
One brothel was raided at Galle Road, Mt. Lavinia and six women were arrested. Two persons; one was identified as the manager, and the other who was running the brothel were arrested. The police said that the suspects were from Panadura, Siyambalanduwa, Kelaniya, Rambukkana and Nikadalupotha.
Meanwhile, another brothel was raided in Kawduruwatte, in the same police division with four, including three women were arrested. The suspects were from Wathurugama, Tissamaharama, Ambalangoda and Galle. A male suspect was arrested for managing the brothel, the Police said.
Meanwhile, another brothel was raided at Wijewardana Mawatha in Mt. Lavinia and nine women were arrested.
They were from the Panadura, Wadduwa, Kandy, Ruwanwella, Demodara, Deltota, Hatton and Kottawa areas, according to the police. During this raid, an Ayurvedic female doctor was also arrested.
All suspects were produced before the Mt. Lavinia Magistrate yesterday, the Police added.
