A stock of 114 kilogrammes of Kerala Ganja was seized and a suspect arrested by the Navy during a raid in the seas off Uduthiari in Jaffna. The suspect had attempted to smuggle the stock of Kerala Ganja by sea regardless of the curfew. The navy patrol had searched the boat to find the stock of contraband.
Interrogations revealed that the 37 year old suspect was a resident of Thalayadi in Jaffna who had been carrying on the racket for a long time.
He stated that the street value of the stock of ganja was more than Rs.10.5 million and that he had planned to transport it to another area.
The suspect and the stock of ganja was handed over to Palai police for further action.
