SriLankan Airlines has decided to implement a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to retire 500 - 700 of its employees. A senior spokesperson said that this scheme would be implemented with the agreement of the employees.
Trade unions of SriLankan Airlines have given approval to implement this scheme, where 6,500 workers are currently employed with the airline.
The country’s national carrier has been incurring huge loses due to suspension of flights and a VRS has been implemented with the aim of recovering the huge losses.
