Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to China Dr. Palitha Kohona and the Chief Monk of the Shaolin Temple in China exchanged views for cooperation between the Shaolin Temple and Sri Lanka.
Matters pertaining to visits by senior monks, student exchanges and the establishment of a Shaolin Centre in Sri Lanka were also discussed.
Ambassador Kohona visited the Shaolin Temple in the Dengfeng, Henan Province and was received ceremonially by the Chief Monk Shi Yong Xin and Deputy Chief Monk Yan Pei.
“He was treated to a specially prepared Shaolin vegetarian lunch to experience the Shaolin culture since the Shaolin monks are vegetarians. The Shaolin monks practising martial arts also gave an awesome performance especially for the Sri Lankan Ambassador’s delegation,” the Embassy said in a statement.
