The All Ceylon Egg Producers’ Association has decided to reduce the price of an egg by Rs. 2 with effect from Monday.
The decision was taken following a meeting between the officials of the Egg Producers Association and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Carlton House, Tangalle.
Accordingly, a white egg can be obtained from egg producers at Rs. 18.00 and a red egg at Rs. 18.50 from tomorrow.
Association Chairman R.M. Sarath Ratnayake said that about 70 per cent of the country’s total egg production is being distributed through the North Western Egg Producers’ Association.
He informed the Prime Minister that they will distribute eggs at reduced prices.
