Lekakadhikari (Chief Secretary) of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Medagama Dhammananda Thera said it was the duty of the Mahasangha to come forward to oppose any move that would affect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Ven. Thera told the media on Sunday evening (18) that the Government should have placed before the Mahasangha the proposed Port City Bill, which has been gathering momentum. He said that he was hopeful that the Mahasangha would be provided with the opportunity to study the proposed legislation and to express its opinion to the President and other members of the Government to sort out the issue.
Ven. Dhammananda Thera stressed that it was the duty of the Government to take up the issue with all those concerned and to implement it with their consensus.

Sorry sir! You are there to bring those to power. In other words they use you for them to get in to power. It doesn't mean they will listen to you. But definitely they will come back to you in five years. If you have acted in the way you supposed to be the country would have been in a better place now.
