Former MP Ranjan Ramanayake yesterday came out with one of his controversial statements when he said that drug dealers should be held responsible for the spread of COVID-19 among security forces.
Speaking to Journalists, Mr. Ramanayake argued that drug dealers should be held responsible for the spread of COVID-19 among security forces who were infected while apprehending the drug addicts. “ People get addicted to drugs as they are freely available in the country. It is the drug dealers who smuggle the stuff into the country. Therefore it is the drug dealers who should be responsible for the spread of the disease among security forces” he said.
Mr. Ramanayake also referred to the recent allegation made against him by a few that he was getting his personal physiotherapist to distribute essential food items to the needy and claimed that his physiotherapist was indeed a qualified person. “ My physiotherapist Ruwan Fernando against whom they are making accusations is a registered physiotherapist at the Sports Ministry and had rendered his services to the Sri Lankan Cricket Team” he said.
