Work in all hospitals countrywide came to a standstill yesterday due to a strike undertaken by the minor employees.
The Joint Health Services Union had organised the protest against an alleged irregularity in recruiting minor employees and regarding several other demands. Admission of patients and functioning of the clinics had been crippled. However the Army was called to attend to the duties of the strikers in several hospitals while the trade union had made arrangements to attend to the emergency duties.
