A man who was carrying a ‘suspicious looking sack’ in the early hours today at the Balummahara Junction had run away from the police when he was told to stop, leaving the sack with three ducks and a chicken inside.
The Yakkala Police has received a tip off in the early hours today that a man carrying a suspicious sack was loitering at the Balummahara Junction.
When the police personnel had arrived at the location and ordered the man to stop, but the man had fled the scene leaving the sack behind. When inspected the sack, they found three ducks and a chicken inside it.
Police personnel had opened fire at the fleeing man and a bullet which had ricocheted off a nearby bridge railing had injured a bystander in the process.
The injured man was admitted to the Gampaha Hospital and the police are still looking for the suspect.
