The Kelaniya University was temporarily closed except for the Medical faculty with immediate effect following a protest staged by a group of students last morning, University’s Media unit said.
Its director Senior Lecturer Wijayananda Rupasinghe told Daily Mirror that the University started for studies on Tuesday (28) after the Easter Sunday terror attack.
After re-opening the university, its senior management had decided to close all the sections including Lecture rooms and canteens by 9.00 pm for the safety of the students.
However, a group of students today staged a protest against the decision.
Mr. Rupasinghe said all weekend lectures would be held according to the given time tables.
