A group of fifty-eight housemaids who had been stranded in Kuwait due to harassment by their employers, returned to the country via the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Last morning.
The housemaids had been arrested and handed over to the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait by security forces while they were escaping from the houses they had been employed in, due to various harassments.
They had been detained at the Suraksha Detention Centre of the Sri Lankan Embassy and had been sent back on temporary visas.
