Former MP Dr. Harsha De Silva yesterday commented and clarified on the incident where the Arunodaya Mawatha in Rajagiriya was isolated for several hours yesterday. Dr. De Silva said the area was isolated temporarily and then reopened under strict curfew protocols.
“I request local politicians to be responsible in making statements with regard to this crisis. The statement that the pastor in Arunodaya Mawatha took a group to a mass in Jaffna, to attempt to link it to the incident with a pastor there with suspected Coronavirus, is baseless. No one went to Jaffna,” he said. He said Kotte Mayor’s statement that a pastor took people to Jaffna to try and link it to the issue there created unnecessary tension in the area. “It was later found to be false,” he said.
