A 9mm pistol and its magazine which is suspected to have been used for the shooting in Hanwella where a person was killed and another two injured, was recovered in Dedigamuwa by the STF, police said.
They said the pistol of foreign make and the empty magazine were recovered where it had been disposed of.
The 23-year-old Belihullage Gedara Suresh Ruwantha Gunasinghe alias “Chooti Malli”, who was a resident of Jalthara in Ranala and a known criminal gang member, was killed and two others injured when they were shot down at the Embulgama Junction in Hanwella on September 15.
Police and the STF had earlier arrested several suspects in connection with the shooting and they had also seized a van and a motorcycle allegedly used by the gunmen.
Police said the pistol and the magazine were handed over to the Nawagamuwa Police for further investigations.
