The Department of Excise has promoted 12 of its senior Inspectors and Chief Inspectors to the rank of Superintendent with effect from December 3, Excise sources said.
Spokesman for the Department, Deputy Excise Commissioner Kapila Kumarasinghe said the 12 officials in the inspectorate, who had successfully completed their promotion examinations, had been promoted under the approval of the Public Service Commission.
The long awaited promotions are as follows.
K. D. S. Chandrakumara - Superintendent of Excise (SE) Distilleries Board Aluthgama, S. Thangaraja – SE Jaffna, B. H. Peiris (Retired), R. P. K. K. Wijesinghe – SE Monaragala, M J. de Silva – SE Hambantota, H. H. D. Jayawardena – SE Batticaloa, A. A. R. Perera – SE Kalutara, S. Ranjan – SE Kilinochchi, R. V. S. Tissa Kumara – SE Kegalle, K. K. Nimal Ratnayake – SE Chilaw, K. P. L. Perera – SE Gampaha and H. S. P. de Costa – SE Narcotics Detection Unit.
