The police OIC attached to the Pugoda police was remanded till October 27, following the death of a suspect while in police custody, Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. The 21-year-old resident of Polgaslanda was arrested on October 11 on a drug charge and was later admitted to the Ragama Hospital due to a sudden illness he developed while in the custody of the Pugoda Police which lead to his death.
Following the incident, the Police inspector and a sergeant attached to the Pugoda Police were arrested and remanded on October 17 over the suspicious death of a person in custody.
