A stock of 1,455 kilos of turmeric smuggled to the country was ordered by court to be destroyed in the Kalpitiya Court complex premises last morning.
Puttalam Division Aniti- Narcotic Unit that carried out the raid on a house in Pallivasalthurai in Kalpitiya on a tip-off received from the Air Force, had seized the stock of contraband and arrested a suspect.
Police said the trade value of the stock of turmeric would be about Rs.10 million.
