Distributing A lorry load of papaw transported from Norochcholai to Tissamaharama was not permitted by the health authorities and 13 individuals from Tissamaharama area who were unloading the stock were placed under quarantine.
Tissamaharama Administrative PHI Anura Siri Wijemuni said that he sealed the lorry load of papaw and returned it to Norochcholai in the Puttalam District that was endangered with the spread of Corona virus. He said the transporters who parked the lorry in a temple ground were preparing to distribute it when the Chief Incumbent of the temple informed the health authorities.
The PHI said the transporters were from the Suriyawewa area but their curfew pass indicated they were from Norochcholai. He pointed out that the individuals concerned had used the curfew pass to transport the stock of papaw without the recommendation of the MOH of the area.
PHI Wijemuni further said that he reported the incident to the Norochcholai Police.
