The life of Mahindasiri, known to most as Mahinda or Gala, was always a life of celebration and his demise last year was a great loss to his wife, two sons Aravinda and Dimithra, as well as to his siblings, relatives and his wide circle of friends.
Mahinda was a loving and dutiful husband who cared for my daughter Nelum immensely. As a father Mahinda was not just dutiful but he guided his sons to grow up to be role model gentlemen and supported them in their life choices. He was an outstanding example of a good human being not just to his family but to everyone who knew him.
Mahinda was blessed with 4 grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. Everyone saw how much he valued and adored the time he spent with them, specially the older two. Even if he was having a bad day the grand kids coming over and climbing on his chair while screaming and playing, always put a smile on his face and cheered him up.
As my son-in-law, Mahinda cared for me like a son after I lost my husband. He was also a caring and dutiful brother to his 5 sisters and brother. Specially after they lost their parents at a young age Mahinda, cared for them and took on the parental responsibilities to ensure they had a good life ahead of them.

After receiving his education at Mahinda College Galle, Mahinda received his higher education at the Hardy Advanced Technological Institute in Ampara. He then served in the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery for 15 years as an engineer. He also served as an engineer in Doha, Qatar in a power company for 10 plus years.
Despite his busy schedule and work demands, he never failed to fulfil his responsibilities to his family and friends. We all miss him dearly.
May his soul rest in peace.
