A 21-year-old youth was arrested at Udayarkattu by the Special Task Force (STF) personnel on charges of having in his possession explosives weighing more than 52 kilograms, police said.
They said they believed that the suspect identified as Waran Kugneshwaran of Udayarkattu South was planning to sell the explosives illegally to fishermen.
Investigations revealed that the explosives had been removed from bombs.
Police said the suspect would be produced in the Mullaitivu Magistrate’s Court and the explosives sent to the Government Analyst for further investigations. (Darshana Sanjeewa)
