The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) today announced that drinking water supply will have to be restricted due to the prevailing drought which had dried up water sources in most parts of the country.
They said the continuous supply of drinking water for 24 hours would have to be restricted in this situation and water supply to hilly areas will be under low pressure.
NWSDB requested people to use water sparingly in these difficult times and requested to contact their emergency contact centre (1939) for more information. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

First electricity and now water. The cause of this water cut need to be investigated by the main stream media. To me it points to an empty treasury.

This is due to decades of poor water management and water waste. No storage facilities were created. Islands in the Mediterranean Sea already had underground caverns in use over a hundred years ago, in which water can be stored for many months. Even the kings of Sri Lanka had better water management over a thousand years ago.
