President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today instructed the authorities to exempt those applying for Light Vehicle (LV) Licenses from a full medical examination and limit such an examination for applicants of Heavy Vehicle Licenses.
He pointed out that a vision test was sufficient to obtain Light Vehicle Licenses and directed the officials to look into the possibility of conducting the vision test at hospital level.
The President made this directive during a discussion with transport ministry officials after considering the complex procedures involved in obtaining driving licenses.

Very good President. There is lot of corruption and mismanagement of Passport department. They have state of art building. But visitor toilets are awful. There are many brokers operating in and out charging Rs 3500-400 000 for assisting to get a passport. The queues are continuously jumped by those who know someone inside or by those who have paid some money to a broker.
