Six people were killed and three others injured after a van crashed into a tree at Lunugamwehera on the Mattala-Kataragama Main Road early this morning.
Police said the van was travelling towards Kataragama when the driver lost control of the wheel and skidded off the road and crashed into the tree.
Nine people who are residents of Galle were injured and six of them succumbed to their injuries on admission to the Lunugamwehera Hospital.
The others were transferred to the Hambanthota and Debarawela Hospitals.
