The discrepancies that were observed in the vaccination drive are being taken into consideration and will be rectified, Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva said.

He told media that there were minor hiccups at the vaccination centres and added they have identified such acts and were on the process of rectifying them.

“As far as the vaccination drive is concerned, the main focus right now is on the Western Province. There were incidents where there were long queues at the vaccination centres,” he underlined.

“The health officials announce the particular Grama Niladhari Division prior to the date of vaccination. We have set up at least three centres in a Grama Niladhari Divisions. These issues occur when people from other GN Divisions come to the centres despite they being notified,” the Army Chief added.

Hence, he requested people to be patient until they get their turn to receive the vaccine.

He also said it would take another few weeks to start the vaccination drive in other provinces. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Whether it's hiccups or checkups people in the Western Province and most importantly CMC areas no one knows when to go and how to get the right date and right time to get the vaccine CMC staff are over loaded as the city population is very high. So give us a proper procedure to obtain the vaccine specially to senior citizens taking into consideration of their age and most of them will be on treatment for some other sickness.

To you everything is a hiccup .. it's a failure of epic proportions . Only 2.7% of the population has been vaccinated and even if you vaccinate 50,000 per day it will take 453 days to immunise the entire country .. don't take us the public as a joke , you are a joker that's a fact

Are you still involved in this whole affair? You went missing when the cases started getting out of control. Now coming back to vaccinate. It's already a mess, please don't mess it further.

Is that mean the civil administration has failed and we need a military government or purposely let it to be failed and encouraging for a military government.

It is not true in Army Chief's statement, in fact, people are RUNNING away avoiding vaccination drive. Because, they know, COVID vaccination is a secret plan of DEPOPULATION through out world

Even with hiccups, Sri Lanka is vaccinating the population. More than 125 other countries are still waiting for vaccines. Long practiced queue jumping, irrational and selfish behaviour of our people cannot be controlled by force. However someone is receiving the vaccine.

Rather than Police, Army could handle this well.
