Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake said today the United National Party (UNP) had not yet decided on its presidential candidate though several party members had made comments about a person perceived to be fielded.

The minister who is also the UNP deputy leader made this comment to the media after attending a function held at a mosque in Maradana.

“Several UNPers have mentioned the name of an individual for candidacy without any basis. The UNP will nominate someone who is mature and not field a person who is unable to even win his own constituency for the party. We will select a person who is capable of fulfilling the interests of all communities,” he said.

Only SAJITH Premadasa can take the UNP to the Promise Land !!! Yeah!!!

I did not even read what you had said you dirty rogue. Keep your dirty hands off this matter. No one from the unp is as suitable as Sajith as the presidential candidate. If you are sacked from the unp, his chances of winning will increase immensely.

    Anmanpan Tuesday, 25 June 2019 07:43 AM

Aye Aye, you do not want a UNP member to be the presidential candidate who could challenge your lame duck leader. Ha Ha Ha

    Anmanpan Tuesday, 25 June 2019 07:45 AM

Oh! What better presidential candidate that your charismatic leader Ranil. Now he is in a fix as he can not go shopping for candidates outside the UNP which is very safe for his survival as leader.

    Ravinatha Tuesday, 25 June 2019 11:40 AM

What better Presidential candidate for the UNP than the patriotic, genuine, honest ,man of integrity, free from allegations of fraud and corruption than the one and only RAVI KARUNANAYAKE.

Andrew Silva Tuesday, 25 June 2019 11:44 AM

There is only one man Who is capable,to be a honoust leader and that is not you Ravi. The people know who that person is. It is a pity the UNP does not want to know who that person is .
