After days of bickering, the United National Party (UNP) resolved today to nominate its deputy leader Sajith Premadasa as the presidential candidate, party sources said.
UNP leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met with the party seniors at Temple Trees. It was attended by General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, National Organiser Navin Dissanayake, Chairman Kabir Hashim, Mr. Premadasa and Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
His name for candidacy will be proposed by Mr. Wickremesinghe at the party’s working committee meeting in the evening today. (Kelum Bandara)

To ensure victory now nominate Karu for post of Prime Minister. If you Ranil go in as PM then UNP will suffer another loss in spite of Sajith contesting for Presidency. Do what is right for the party and country as all you seem interested in doing is safe guarding your friends, even when they are in the wrong.

This could be another mistake like UNP has done with Sirisena.

Finally, Sajith won the first race and Ranil is defeated. Ultimately, Sajith will win the final race and Gota will go back to USA, that is sure

Now that people know who the main presidential candidates are, I sincerely hope that they think wisely in the best interests of the country (especially thinking long term) and cast the vote! Another mistake will take the country to a point of no return!
