Two suspects were arrested with 90 five thousand and 47 thousand rupee counterfeit notes in Anuradhapura last evening, the Police said.
The suspects who arrived in a car were arrested by the Anuradhapura Police at a road block near the Isurumuniya Car Park.
A plastic pistol, CDMA phone, mobile phone, a knife and gold pieces weighing 280 grammes were among the items taken into custody.
The suspects aged 35 and 51 were identified as residents of Bandarawela and Homagama.
They are to be produced in the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court today.
