A van crashed into a group of policemen inspecting vehicles in Rajagiriya this morning killing a policeman and another person.
Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that the policemen were inspecting a mini lorry when the accident occurred.
A van had crashed into the policemen killing a Sub Inspector and an assistant of the mini lorry driver.
The accident had occurred on the Parliament Road between the Ayurveda round-about and the Rajagiriya flyover.
“The policemen where inspecting vehicles entering Colombo when a ‘Dimo Batta’ type lorry crashed into them,” the Police Spokesman said.
He said that a van heading to Borella from Battaramulla had then crashed into them.
This resulted in a 52-year-old Sub Inspector and an assistant of the lorry driver being killed.
The driver of the van has been arrested. (ER)
